Welcome to The Digital Impact Explorer!
My name is Zoé Waterlot. I am a PhD student at the University of Glasgow. My research is supported by UNICEF and the Scottish Graduate School of Social Sciences and focuses on the transition to digital technologies in the humanitarian world.
I have a background in humanities and social science, with a focus on geography and sustainable development, which led me to undertake the MSc Environment and Development at the University of Edinburgh, which I followed on with the MSc Earth Futures at the University of Glasgow, where I started working with UNICEF Innovation as an intern. Throughout my masters’ degrees I focused on how the inclusion of technology challenges pre-existing socio-spatial structures. Working with UNICEF Innovation on the African Drone and Data Academy (ADDA) and the Impact Yoma projects was an amazing opportunity for me to apply my research focus to the humanitarian world, which keep pursuing in my PhD project.
I created The Digital Impact Explorer because I love writing about my research interests and my process to approach research. This blog is a space for me to share what I am curious about and my experiences as a researcher.
I hope you will enjoy reading about my work!
Warm wishes,
Zoé
